Protect yourself from WannaCry ransomware
On Friday, a massive ransomware attack targeted tens of thousands of computers across the world. And it’s spreading…fast.
Wanna Decrypt0r (aka WCry, WannaCry, and WannaCryptor) ransomware encrypts files and databases — without any user intervention. Like other nasty ransomware, WannaCry also blocks access to a computer or its files and demands money to unlock it.
If your computer gets infected you have only two choices – pay the ransom or restore clean versions of your files and applications from a recent, clean backup.
If you haven’t yet taken the following 3 steps, do so NOW:
- Install Microsoft’s critical updates — MS17-010 and Update Catalog.
- Update your AntiVirus/AntiSpyware signatures.
- Protect your devices with with a cloud backup solution that includes AV/AS detection.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns about WannaCry or other Ransomware risks, we’re here to help, so please don’t hesitate to contact us.
